Johannesburg is the country's largest city and the administrative centre for Gauteng, South Africa. It is the wealthiest city and the economic powerhouse of South Africa. During the 1880's the world's richest gold fields were discovered in the area that is now the modern city. Johannesburg has become a booming, happening city with its improved city center, updated street names, and attractive pedestrian precincts. With good weather throughout the year, Johannesburg is an exciting destination offering a variety of cultural and historic attractions, and great outdoor activities for visitors from all over the world. Visit the Apartheid Museum opened in 2001, dedicated to illustrating South Africa's history of black oppression, at the heart of which is the apartheid story. The Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site first named by UNESCO in 1999, features the Sterkfontein Caves, where the fossil, Australopithecus africanus (nicknamed Mrs. Ples) was found in 1947 by Dr. Robert Broom and John Robinson. Johannesburg's attractions include the Kruger National Park, Gold Reef City, the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden, the Magaliesberg, the Museum of African Art, the Market Theater and Museum Africa, the Museum of South African Rock Art, and the Johannesburg Zoo. A modern city of Johannesburg features an array of Victorian and Edwardian architecture plus concrete, chrome and glass skyscrapers, surrounded by the leafy northern suburbs and congested shanty towns.
Because jet charter is not priced on a per person or ticket basis, it is not likely that it would be more cost effective for a group of 10-15 individuals to charter a jet compared with flying via scheduled airline service in coach or first class. Even if the total cost for a charter trip is split among 10 people, the cost each person would cover would still be significant.
Some other examples of prices come from Avinode, which powers a charter marketplace for brokers and operators and gathers a large amount of data on pricing. Their recent data shows the average price per hour for return trips, for various aircraft. As noted above, these rates can vary depending on when you fly, where you fly and if your flight is one way or return, plus landing fees, ramp fees and any repositioning can all add to the costs. Always ask for a fully inclusive quote from your broker or operator.
With a private air charter flight, you’ll be delighted to discover you won’t be spending time on the usual rigmarole! Instead, you’ll be directed to your charter operator’s private terminal where you’ll almost always be the only person ‘in line’ -- or if you’re flying from a privately run airport (such as Marshfield Airport, GHG) you’ll simply arrive at the time of your departure and be greeted by your pilot -- along with a ground crew that will valet park your vehicle.
Joel Thomas: Hi William! Thanks for the opportunity to serve you and your wife. We are always grateful when our clients take the time to offer feedback. We reached out to Chief Pilot of the air carrier you flew with regarding the noise you mentioned and here is what they said: "Frequently you'll hear noises that sound like that and its just the airplane expanding as altitude, temperature and humidity change. Its actually very common." Looking forward to working with you all again soon! All my best
I travel regularly for business and have booked charter flights through a number of different private jet companies. At the beginning of the year, I was referred to Joel at Stratos. Since then, I have booked a number of flights through Stratos. His team does a great job ensuring we have a seamless travel experience. I would definitely recommend Stratos to others.
At Shoreline Aviation, our helpful staff can assist with cost benefit analysis for your specific mission so you can make an informed decision - and we'll always provide accurate up-front cost estimates, based on your requirements, so there will never be any surprises. Be sure to provide your destination address so they can select the most convenient destination airport, often much closer than the nearest airport served by commercial airlines.

There are potentially even better deals. JetSuite offers SuiteDeals for as little as $500 each way. You have to sign up on its website, but when I visited, it didn’t have any flights listed. Wheels Up has a program called 8760. You pay $6,900 annually and access empty legs for as little as $320. You also get entry to its hospitality at events at the Super Bowl, The Masters, other high profile confabs, plus an Inspirato Key Membership which normally has a $10,000 initiation fee and then $3,500 annual dues.
For those who don't mind mingling with strangers, companies like Tradewind offer shuttles between places like New York and Boston, Stowe, and Nantucket, as well as Caribbean Islands like St. Barth's and Anguilla. (Flights begin at $250 plus tax each way.) The bonus? On a route from from San Juan to St. Barth's, a Tradewind rep will meet you at your terminal and help shuttle you through. JetSuiteX, affiliated with JetBlue, sells seats on planes between Burbank and Las Vegas.

THANK YOU STRATOS!! I have been working with Stratos Jet Charters for almost 3 years now & could not be happier with the services they provide! Working with me on many last minute changes, they are always quick & efficient, extremely professional, genuinely honest & immensely knowledgeable of all products and services they offer. They truly look out for the best interests of their clients. I trust them to always guide me in making the appropriate aircraft choices for our company. I find the ENTIRE team to be THE BEST in the charter aircraft business!!
I was thouroughly impressed with the professionalism of the Broker Joel, the flight organizer Sarah and the crew on both legs. The aircraft was clean, in good shape and right on time. The crew was friendly and professional to me and my guests. Two small issues were getting a tail number on less than 12 hours that made getting our rental cars more complex than necessary and more significant was being notified by our bank that you tried to bill my flight a couple times when I paid in full prior to first leg. All in all I would use them again but would encourage one contact who checks in daily a few days prior to flight rather than me having try to figure out who to call when it looked like a couple problems were coming up.
Once again: Joel, Sarah and Sandra delivered a seamless experience as well as the pilots and ground crew. There was 5 feet of snow in Steamboat Springs after a blizzard (Hayden Airport) and we took off perfectly and had a very smooth flight despite weather. The jet was beautiful and the awesome pilots tolerated our golden retriever trying to take over the navigation of the plane and two cats meowing. Stratos arranged for transportation home and the driver was so pleasant. Super happy again and will continue to only use them. Thank you again!
Jet charter service means different things to different people. For business travellers, it’s an invaluable management tool that allows executives to attend out-of-town meetings, tour facilities and visit regional offices in-person. For personal travellers, it’s a convenient way to travel anywhere in the world, while avoiding the stress, wait times and frustration associated with alternate forms of air travel.
